Previous Phones:
I've not had many phones in my life, I had a few brick Nokia when I was younger but for a long time I never needed one or wanted one in fact. One year for my birthday I decided I was going to get myself a new phone; I wanted one that was cheap but still did everything that I wanted. Being not very Tech-savvy I decided that I was going to go with the Orange Sydney (at the time I liked the phone but it worked with a weird Java app system that I found infuriating.I had that phone for what I would consider to be a long time and was happy to keep using it, but then as fate would have it, I lost it on the bus. I was stuck without a phone that I had quickly built up a dependency for - It had all my music, all my texts, all my pictures and it was how I used to talk to my girlfriend at the time (turns out she wasn't a great choice either). I was stuck without a phone. At the same time as I got my off-market Sydney, my brother got himself a Android device - The Samsung Galaxy Europa. I was amazed by how much you could do with android devices, the variety of apps you could have and all of the Google services. This inspired me to buy myself an Android device but again on the cheap. That year I bought myself the Sony Xperia Tipo (a phone that apparently no one had heard of before I bought it) which was an amazing experience for me. It opened up so many doors for things that I could do, I could now use my voice to type out my texts, I could have so many useful apps.
The device measures 103 by 57 by 13 mm and weighs 99.4 grams. It features a capacitive touchscreen display which measures 3.2 inches with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels at 180 ppi with multitouch support and is capable of displaying 262,000 colours. The glass of the display is made from plastic. The camera of the device has 3.2 megapixels capable of 4x digital zoom and supports VGA video recording, it does not have a front facing camera. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM7225A single-core 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A5 processor with 2.9 GB of internal memory with up to 2.5 GB user-accessible memory and also has an external slot which supports a maximum 32GB external memory on microSD card. I ahd this phone for over two years and it stilled worked fine, it was truly a very valuable phone which I still carry around with me today.Brand new Windows Phone:
But I was overcome with a fascination with Windows Phones, my grandmother has bought herself one and as soon as I got my hands on it I wanted it. I soon set out and bought myself a Lumia 535 which is an entry level device and the first Windows Phone to come with the Microsoft branding instead of the Nokia. It came preloaded with Windows Phone 8.1 and I have to say that I love using it so much. It is very reminiscent of an android device offering similar features (such as an action centre that you drag down for the top of the screen).
To my dismay there are not as many apps in Windows Store as there are in Google Play and because of the Rivalry between Microsoft and Google, things like Google translate and Drive are not available. But this is not too much of a problem for me. I love the Windows Phone experience which includes the wonderful Cortana and could happily go the rest of my life using the fantastic Windows Phone. Hopefully with the release of Windows 10 at the end of 2015 Microsoft Phones will come with even more fantastic features that will continue to bring them into the mobile market as help them to be recognised as the fantastic phones that they are.
